実はハンガリー旅行のあとでコロナに感染しちゃったんですけど，その時からのどが少し変です。時々，話しにくくなります。

今日のトピックは，外国語です。
日本人にとって・・私にとって，「外国語」とは何かについて話そうと思います。
I would like to talk about what "foreign language" is to the Japanese people, and to me.
おもしろそうだけど，ちょっと難しいトピックですね〜。
外国語は，外国の言語。Foreign languageです。
日本の学校では，必ず英語を習います。
最近は小学校から英語を教え始めるらしいですよ。
必ず：100%, surely, certainly
習う：to learn
〜らしい：I hear that, I heard of that, I know that…
教える：to teach
In Japanese schools, learning English is mandatory.
I have heard of that some school start teaching English from elementary school.
みんなテストのために英語を勉強するからね，あんまり話す練習をしないんです。
だから日本人は英語を話すのがあんまり得意じゃないです。
〜のために：for something
練習：practice
得意：be good at something
でも日本人はいつも「英語話したい」「英語が上手になりたい」「英語ペラペラになりたい」って言っていますね。
私も同じです。「英語がもっと上手になりたい！」といつも思っています。
なんででしょうね？？

じゃあ，他の言語はどうでしょうか？
What about other languages?
例えば，スペイン語とか，フランス語とか，中国語，ドイツ語，イタリア語，韓国語・・・
あとはどんな言語があるかな・・・。ベトナム語，タイ語・・・チェコ語・・・
色々な言語がありますよね。もちろん，日本でも色々な言語を勉強できますよ。
特に，スペイン語，中国語，韓国語などは割と人気だと思います。

たぶんね，将来仕事で役に立つからだよね。

だって，スペイン語はスペインだけじゃなくて，ポルトガルとかブラジルとか，あとは〜・・・メキシコとか，あとは色々なアフリカの国でもスペイン語が話されていますからね。
スペイン語を知っていたら，色々な国の人と一緒に仕事ができるチャンスがあるんですね。

話す 話されている：to be spoken (passive form)
仕事ができる：you can work
Because Spanish is not only spoken in Spain, but also in Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, and many other African countries.
