今日の文法は「〜かもしれません」です。

 

う〜。今日は寒いですね。雪が降るかもしれません。

Today is cold. It may snow. 今日は寒いですね。雪が降るかもしれません。

 

Verb in dictionary form + 〜かもしれません。 = I may… , It could be…

You can also use this grammar for Noun and adjectives as well.

Let’s try to make a sentence.

 

あ、空が暗いですね。The sky is dark.

It may rain today. How do you say?

あ、空が暗いですね。今日は雨がふるかもしれません。

 

Let’s try another one.

町に新しいレストランができました。A new restaurant has opened.

Let’s go to that new restaurant, it may be delicious.

あのレストランに行きましょうよ、おいしいかもしれません。

あれ、財布がありません。Oh I don’t have a wallet.

I may have forgotten my wallet at home.

うちに財布を忘れたかもしれません。

 

友達と話す時は、もっとカジュアルな話し方もできます。

あれ、財布がない。うちに財布を忘れたかも。

 

過去の話をする時は、過去形 past tense 過去形を使いましょう。

She didn’t drink much, maybe she didn’t like alcohol. How do you say this?

あまり飲まなかったですね、たぶん、お酒が嫌いだったかもしれません。

 

カジュアルな話し方をする場合:

 

あまり飲まなかったね、たぶん、お酒が嫌いだったかも。

For casual speaking:
